Chart of the Day: The U.S. Safety Net for the Recently Unemployed
Today I’m using my Chart of the Day post to amplify this Econofact article “Job Loss and the Safety Net” by Chloe East and David Simon. The chart really highlights both how much of the U.S. safety net comes from unemployment insurance for workers of all income levels, and the lower levels of assistance available for lower income workers.
Go read the EconoFact article or Chloe’s twitter thread for more. I’m working on a related paper with David and Chloe, so I’ve gotten a sneak-peak at their results. Really important and interesting work.
